Important: Turmeric will stain the skin and fingernails. Small amounts will wash off easily with soap and water, but higher dosages can leave a yellow tinge on the skin for several hours. The best way is to start with very small amounts until you are happy with what you can remove afterwards. (The oil based remedies are much easier to remove.)
No.1 1x tablespoon of lemon juice, 1x tablespoon cucumber juice, 1x pinch of turmeric powder.
Mix the three ingredients together and apply it to the skin for 15 minutes, then wash thoroughly. Afterwards, apply a natural moisturizing cream.
No.2 You will need – A natural oil, such as olive oil, castor, grapeseed or coconut. Turmeric powder.
Mix a small amount of the turmeric powder with the oil to form a thin paste. Apply to the face as a face mask and leave for 30 minutes. Wash thoroughly afterwards.
No.3 You will need – A natural oil, 1x small clear plastic bottle, turmeric powder.
Fill the bottle 3/4 full with the natural oil, then add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to the oil. Shake the bottle well. The oil will turn yellowish orange in color. Leave the bottle to stand overnight. The next day, the turmeric should have settled to the bottom of the bottle, leaving an orange colored oil. Apply to the skin for 30 minutes, then wash thoroughly and apply a moisturizing cream. The oil should keep for a couple of weeks, after that, just mix a new batch.
Remember that when using any natural hyperpigmentation remedy it always a case of trial and error. What works for some may not work for others, it’s just a case of finding out what works best for you.
